WWF France has partnered with Trinomics to review and develop an integrated framework and central guidance for nature transition planning for corporates, FIs and supervisory authorities within the EU. The project aims to use the current momentum regarding considerations of nature-related aspects into corporate sustainability policies and strategies and incorporate environmental risks and opportunities into company decision-making processes and their integrated climate- and nature transition plans. Trinomics conducts a desktop analysis of existing transition planning frameworks and initiatives by providing detailed insights into current disclosure rules and best-practices, mapping existing tools, metrics, assessment methodologies and best market practices, with a view to provide guidance to companies in effectively integrating nature into their strategies. Relevant stakeholders were consulted bilaterally through the client, and use cases were developed by WWF and partner CDP in cooperation with Sodexho and Decathlon. The ambition of the project was to develop a transition plan framework that should serve as a state of the art guidance, and together with partner Seawolf to develop an assessment framework for both supervisory and investment purposes.
In addition the project was complemented by a review of the nature-climate nexus and its status of articulation in transition planning to date and reflections on future development needs and research focus
