Trinomics is a leading consultancy firm dedicated to supporting the transition to a low-carbon, green and climate-resilient society. Our work includes applied economic research and policy advice, capacity building, and knowledge transfer in a wide range of climate and energy policy topics, with clients ranging from European institutions to national governments in Europe, to international clients such as bilateral and multilateral donors and international financial institutions.  

 

As part of the expansion of our business operations, we are looking for an experienced Senior Green Finance Expert with specialisation in Financial Instruments to join our recently established Green Finance team, either in our offices in Rotterdam, Brussels or Paris. The successful applicant will support the Green Finance team in expanding Trinomics’ project portfolio in Green finance policy development and advisory support across the following areas: 

  • Financial instruments (e.g. EU budgetary instruments, green bonds, intermediated lending products, transition financing options, innovative financial instruments, green budgeting & mainstreaming, etc.); 
  • Green finance advisory (e.g. green financing needs & gap assessments, sustainable finance taxonomies, nature related financial risks, nature-positive finance, net-zero finance strategies, decarbonization pathways, etc.). 

 

Profile of the candidate 

As Senior Expert Green Finance, you have profound knowledge of existing and innovative financial instruments, and interest in green finance advisory work for public sector client and (public) financial institutions, strong analytical capabilities, an eye for detail, the willingness to go that extra mile if necessary, and are keen on operating in multidisciplinary & international project teams.  

 

Required 

  • Completed Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline;  
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience, with at least 4 years of experience in a similar field (e.g. consultancy, think-tank or other (policy-) research organisation); 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating project teams; 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the delivery of consultancy projects as well as acquisition in the required areas of expertise, and a good network of established contacts with relevant stakeholders; 
  • In-depth knowledge of existing and innovative financial instruments for the green transition, such as EU budgetary funds & programmes, EIB financial products, EU sustainable finance framework, and experience working on methods such as (EU) policy assessments, impact analyses and cost-benefit analyses;  
  • Quantitative capabilities (advanced Excel skills, statistical analysis, etc.) and modelling skills are a plus; 
  • Ability to work, write and communicate fluently in English. The ability to work in additional (EU) languages is considered an advantage.
