Although philanthropies offer diverse resources to support climate action, climate funding accounts for under 2% of the global philanthropic funding. Against this background, the foundation Active Philanthropy has been built to provide philanthropies with tools and resources that help them entering climate action.
Active Philanthropy uses different channels to support foundations in their integration of climate concerns: a knowledge hub, a pipeline of climate-related projects, learning journeys in Greenland to raise awareness on the effects of climate change, and a toolkit for philanthropies starting with climate action. This project consisted in identifying and assessing the diverse impacts of these activities. Trinomics delivered a complete assessment, based on innovative quantitative and qualitative research, including participatory interviews, case studies, data analysis, a literature review and a stakeholders workshop. It concluded confirmed that Active Philanthropies are doing highly relevant work, using an original approach to increase philanthropic and corporate climate support and action.
