Driven by national and European climate goals, the Dutch industrial sector is tasked to reduce its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions substantially towards 2030. Various policy instruments at EU and national level have been implemented to contribute to the required reduction, such as the EU Emission Trading Scheme (ETS), the national CO2 levy for industry and the stimulation of sustainable energy production and climate transition (SDE++ subsidy). As a substantial share of Dutch industrial businesses is located in the Province of North-Brabant, the Province aims to facilitate industrial decarbonisation.
Through this project, Trinomics will support the Province of North-Brabant by analysing the Dutch industrial GHG emissions and energy use data, as well as different EU, national and regional policy instruments that are related to industrial GHG emissions. Based on both analyses, Trinomics will then identify policy priorities through which the Province of North-Brabant can facilitate industrial decarbonisation.
