The European Commission has launched an open public consultation to collect feedback on different policy measures to promote harmonisation of smartphone chargers.
A new Memorandum produced by the industry in 2017 has raised concerns of market fragmentation and problems with charger interoperability, leading to consumer inconvenience and additional waste. Therefore, the Commission wants to explore different options for actions that can be taken to further promote harmonisation of chargers. All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation.
The results of this consultation will be used as inputs for the ongoing impact assessment study on the topic, carried out by Trinomics, in collaboration with Ipsos, Fraunhofer and Economisti Associati. Read more about this project on our project page.
