The FP7 Recreate project, in which Trinomics together with an international consortium is involved, has just published its first newsletter. The newsletter was written by Trinomics, based on a detailed case study produced by Wuppertal Institut. The theme of this newsletter is solar leasing, as one example of a new business model that can be used in the development of a circular economy.
The key messages are:
- Solar services being sold instead of solar PV systems is a new business model which is interesting from a circular economy perspective.
- There are currently financial, information and public acceptance-related barriers for the uptake of solar services in Europe.
- Stimulating new business models based on selling ‘services’ instead of ‘products’ is a crucial factor in optimising resource flows in our society.
