Green growth and the green economy are in the centre of public interest in recent years. The popularity of these terms stems from their embodied and positive claim that economic growth and environmental improvement can be combined. But opinions about how to shape green growth in practice widely diverge. There is a fierce debate going on about the extent to which these claims are justified and how can they become a reality in practice.
This book, ‘Echte Groene Boekje’, written for the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environmental Affairs, aims to give an overview of this debate. It discusses concepts, definitions, open issues and current actions on green growth. It provides recommendations for green growth policies in the Netherlands in the coming years and is of interest to all those that would like to learn more about the contents of the green growth concept and aiming to make green growth come true in the near future.
