Expanding the knowledge base on intra-EU waste movements in a circular economy
The purpose of this study was to improve the understanding of the movements of waste between EU Member States (MSs) by broadening the knowledge base, describing the dynamics and the drivers behind these movements and assessing the overall environmental benefit and risks that the movements bring to the overall EU waste management system. The work was structured under the following three questions: What can the available data tell us about the intra EU shipments of Waste? What drives and constrains these waste movements? What are the environmental benefits of these waste movements?
