The project aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of Polish coal regions to achieve a climate-neutral economy by developing action plans and handbooks on post-mining asset transfers, energy transition, socio-economic activation of women and youth, and stakeholder involve, ent. Deliverable 3 focused on the case of Western Malopolska to support the region’s shift to renewables. It reviewed existing studies and plans, conducted fact finding with key stakeholders, and developed an action plan focused on energy communities. Deliverable 5 developed an action plan to facilitate the socio-economic activation of women and youth in Lodzkie region, within the context of the economic shift from coal production to green activities. This was based on thorough contextual analysis, drawing on data from interviews, focus groups, surveys, statistical data, and review of good practices. The analysis resulted in the development of 12 measures to address structural, institutional and pshycho-social barriers that women and youth often face in coal regions. These spanned across six intervention areas including local engagement and communication, motivation and mentorship, training and skill development, labour market and entrepreneurial integration, and mobility.
